Labyrinths symbolize the soul's journey.
A labyrinth is an intircate path that leads from an entrance or gatewy to a central "secret" place. Much like a human life, the path contains many twists and turns. Some have called the labyrinth a divine imprint. Labyrinths have been a part of human spiritual practice for millennia on most continents. One of the ealriest surviving labyrinths is a rock carving on Sardinia that is between 4,000 and 4,500 years old.

The pavement labyrinth set in the St. Jude's sanctuary floor is modeled on one of the few survivors among the 22 medieval labyrinths laid in the 88 great cathedrals built when there were only two major divisions of the Christian church. The indoor labyrinth is open every summer during the Utah Shakespearean Festival and at other times during the church year. A portable outdoor labyrinth is also available. Consult our calendar for opening dates and times.
